A 44 anni, Sebastien Destremau, autore del servizio di video informazione velica DesTopNews che da ieri accogliamo sulle nostre colonne, vanta una carriera agonistica di primo piano. Vincitore di cinque titoli iridati, tre europei e giunto sino al dodicesimo posto della ranking list internazionale di match race, è stato tattico in tre campagne di Coppa America (Defi Antibes nel 1995, Le Defi Areva nel 2003 e China Team nel 2007). Inoltre ha preso parte a una Volvo Ocean Race in equipaggio con Knut Frostad, attuale CEO dell’evento. Le sue capacità, riconosciute a livello internazionale, lo hanno portato a navigare assieme ai grandi nomi della vela contemporanea come Russell Coutts (Tour de France a la Voile), Paul Cayard (America’s Cup), Syd Fischer (Kenwood Cup), Thomas Friese (Admiral’s Cup), Thomas Coville (circuito Orma) e Luc Gellusseau (Corum Sailing Team).
Destremau è quindi uno che di vela se ne intende. Nato a Tolone, ha vissuto per diversi anni in Australia, dove ha conseguito un diploma in giornalismo prima di iniziare a scrivere per alcune delle più prestigiose riviste di vela di tutto il mondo e a collaborare con alcune televisioni come commentatore di sport acquatici.

Bi-lingual (French/English) and a graduate of the Australian College of Journalism, Sebastien Destremau, author of the sailing video news DesTopNews that we welcome on our column, has written for most of the major yachting magazines around the world. He has been published in England, USA, Sweden, France, Italy, Australia and New Zealand. He also has done extensive radio and television work as commentator or host / producer for various water sports shows.
At 44 years of age, Sébastien’s America’s Cup carreer span over 15 years. He was representing China in the 2007 America’s Cup as Tactician onboard the first ever-Chinese America’s Cup Yacht. Prior to this he was a key player for the OzBoyz Challenge bid for the 2007 America’s Cup. In the 2003 America’s Cup he was Tactician on board Le Defi Areva as in 1995 with Defi Antibes. He also has an impressive sporting record including five world titles, three European titles, countless National titles and a 12nd position in the world ranking of match racing skippers.
