Volvo Ocean Race, Puma al comando nel vento leggero

[singlepic=1087,250,170,,left]Volvo Ocean Race – Cochin – E’ iniziata un paio d’ore fa la terza tappa della Volvo Ocean Race. A tagliare la linea per primi, scegliendo di partire in boa, sono stati Green Dragon, Telefonica Black e Team Russia. Leggermente attardati sullo start sono risultati Puma, Telefonica Blue ed Ericsson 4 che, per motivi tattici, hanno preferito la barca comitato.

Dopo nemmeno dieci minuti Puma di Ken Read era già al comando, seguito da Telefonica Blue ed Ericsson 4 mentre Team Delta Lloyd ed Ericsson 3 scaldavano i muscoli duellando in modo serrato. Partenza da dimenticare per i russi di Andreas Hanakamp: dopo nemmeno mezz’ora erano già all’ultimo posto e avanzavano molto più lentamente degli avversari.

PUMA LEADS THE CHARGE IN LIGHT WIND
[Volvo Ocean Race Press Release] The third leg of the Volvo Ocean Race, a step into the unknown, began in 7 knots of NW breeze in Cochin this morning. As the fleet embarked on its 1950 nm passage to Singapore, it was Puma who had eked out a slight advantage soon after the gun.

At the favoured pin end, Green Dragon got off to the best start with Telefonica Black and Team Russia close on her heels.

Puma, Telefonica Blue and Ericsson 4 crossed the start at the committee boat end and made their way to the middle of the course. Within 10 minutes they had overhauled the quick starters and formed the leading group. Behind them a squabble was already developing between Delta Lloyd and Ericsson 3, and half an hour after the gun, Team Russia had dropped to the tail, suffering in these light conditions.
