Pedro Galvan Paris è stato nominato nuovo responsabile del Marketing e della Comunicazione della Volvo Ocean Race.

Galvan vanta una grande esperienza nel settore, essendo stato per cinque anni a capo dell’Ufficio Marketing dell’Eurolega di basket e membro del board direttivo dell’Associazione Europea delle Sponsorizzazioni. Titolare di studi a indirizzo di marketing strategico e operativo, Galvan ha insegnato in diverse scuole ed è un relatore molto apprezzato.

“Credo che la Volvo Ocean Race abbia un potenziale enorme per continuare a svilupparsi come evento sportivo di alto livello e non vedo l’ora di giocare un ruolo in questa crescita – ha commentato Galvan – Intendo mettere a conoscenza quanta più gente possibile dello svolgersi della regata, non solo gli appassionati di vela. La gara in sé ha tutti gli ingredienti per affascinare l’immaginario e il cuore delle persone e può diventare un evento globale, così come l’Eurolega di basket”.


VOLVO OCEAN RACE, PEDRO GALVAN PARIS APPOINTED MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION DIRECTOR
[Volvo Ocean Race Press Release] Pedro Galván Paris (35) has joined the Volvo Ocean Race as Marketing and Communications Director. Galván was formerly Chief Marketing Officer of Euroleague Basketball for over five years and during this period he was also a member of the Board of Directors at ESA (European Sponsorship Association).

He has an exceptional background in Strategic and Operative Marketing as well as in Sports Marketing, having ESADE and IESE degrees. He has also taught in several premier business schools and spoken at conferences on sports marketing.

During his time at Euroleague Basketball Galván has focused heavily on the sports marketing and partnerships agreements, especially concentrating on the brand building experience.

“I think the Volvo Ocean Race has huge potential to increase its growth on the world’s stage as a premier sporting event and I am looking forward to being an active part of this,” commented Galván. “I want to increase awareness of the race for all audiences across the board, not only for the sailing fans but also for the general public. The race has such a capacity to capture the hearts and imaginations of people and we want to spread that globally as we did at Euroleague Basketball.”

The Volvo Ocean Race is the world’s premier offshore sailing regatta, which sees high performance Volvo Open 70 yachts race around the globe, passing through four oceans and visiting five continents. Galván’s role encompasses all Marketing and Communication output from the Volvo Ocean Race.

Volvo Ocean Race CEO Knut Frostad has been employing the services of top headhunting firm, Egon Zender International to procure his new team for the 2011-12 race. The appointment of Galván completes the Directorial staff for the Volvo Ocean Race. “I believe we have the best possible person in Pedro to develop our Marketing and Communications in the future,” said Frostad. “I am looking forward to working with him on our strategy for the next race and elevating the race to new levels.”
