Volvo Ocean Race, il momento di Groupama 4

Lorient – Il primo VOR 70 interamente costruito in Francia, Groupama 4, ha lasciato gli stabilimenti della Multiplast di Vannes con destinazione Lorient, porto di armamento del team guidato da Franck Cammas.

Seguito nel dettaglio dal Team Manager Stéphan Guilbaud, il trasferimento del VOR 70 ha richiesto circa tre ore: niente in confronto alle 40.000 ore di manodopera prestate dai dipendenti del cantiere costruttore.

Franck Cammas ha commentato: “Avere la barca qui alla base significa risparmiare tempo e poter accelerare i tempi del varo. Groupama 4 ha bellissime linee e non vediamo davvero l’ora di poterci navigare“.

Il varo, stando al programma stilato dal management del team, dovrà avvenire entro una decina di giorni: lo shore team dedicherà la prossima settimana ai lavori di finitura e alle verifiche del caso.

VOLVO OCEAN RACE, GROUPAMA 4 ARRIVES HOME
[Source Volvo Ocean Race] Groupama Sailing Team’s new Volvo Open 70 left the boatyard in Vannes, France, to reach the team’s base in Lorient this morning.

The boat left Vannes at 6.45 am and reached the base at 9.30 after a careful trip supervised by Team Manager Stéphane Guilbaud. The first Volvo Open 70 built in France, Groupama 4 required 40,000 hours of work at the Multiplast boatyard.

Skipper Franck Cammas said: “Having the boat with us at the base saves time and will guarantee a quick launch. She has good lines and we are looking forward to sailing her. Mulitplast did a great job.”

The launch will take place in ten days and until then, the team will be busy working on the electrical systems, keel, mast and deck hardware.
