Vela e record, due nuovi record per l’Hydroptere

Vela e record – Hyères – Neppure il tempo di tornare in acqua dopo la scuffia dello scorso dicembre e per l’Hydroptere è già tempo di record.

L’avveniristico multiscafo di Alain Thébault, impegnato da ieri nelle acque di Hyères, ha migliorato addirittura due primati in un colpo solo, primati di cui era già titolare dal 2007.

Sfruttando un vento stabile in angolo e in intensità – circa 28 nodi – e fronteggiando un onda di mezzo metro, Hydroptere ha coperto 500 metri a 51.36 nodi di media, velocità che, pur restando da record, è leggermente scesa sulla prova del miglio e si è attestata a 48.72 nodi.

Ad assistere ai tentativi c’era Christophe Simian, responsabile del World Sailing Speed Record Council.

HYDROPTERE, TWO NEW RECORD FOR THE FLYING MULTIHULL
[Hydroptere Press Release] Holders of the absolute speed record over one nautical mile and of the 500-meter record in Category D since April 2007, Alain Thébault and his crew have just improved their performances and established two new records:
– an average of 48.72 knots* over one nautical mile
– an average of 51.36 knots* over 500 meters

Accomplished off Napoleon Beach at Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône, with a northwest wind blowing at 28 knots and a small swell of 0.6 meters, in the presence of Christophe Simian, WSSRC commissioner, these performances show l’Hydroptère’s increase in power.

Alain Thébault and his crew, today composed of Jean-Mathieu Bourgeon, François Brillant, François Cazala, Damien Colegrave, Jérémie Lagarrigue, Adrien Lombard, Sébastien Stéphant and Jacques Vincent, are satisfied with this training session. They are taking the time to fine-tune and to tame l’Hydroptère, whose performance improves with each sailing session.
