Monaco – A steady and solid wind, together with sunny springy conditions, granted a good environment for a sparkling beginning of season for the Mediterranean fleet of the M32s, in these days involved in the first event of the M32 Mediterranean Series, taking place in Monaco and organized by B-Plan Sports&Events along with Yacht Club de Monaco.
Four races have been sailed in the first day of regattas, where the first bullet of the series was scored by the rookie Vitamina Veloce (Andrea Lacorte, 1-4-6-5). The first places in the remaining three races have been gained every time by different teams, respectively going to Section 16 (Richard Davies, 3-1-3-4), Vikings (Patrik Sturesson, 2-7-1-3) and Team Neverland by Guido Miani, that with a progressively improving score line of 4-3-2-1 obtained the leadership of the provisional ranking.
“The conditions of today were great, but at the same time they limited tactical choices. The fact that none of the teams managed to get the first place twice is a clear message of the homogeneity and competitiveness that we have in this fast-growing Class – declared Riccardo Simoneschi, owner of Italia Sailing Team and CEO of BPSE. “We could have had a better start, especially after the good outcome of the Winter Series in Monaco, but we have two more days of racing to give our best – he concluded.
After four races, Team Neverland (10) leads the ranking, with just one point of margin over Section 16 (11). Vikings follow with 13 points and the ranking is completed by Italia Sailing Team (14), Vitamina Veloce (16) and Candidate Sailing Team (22).
Tomorrow, the fleet is going to get back in the water with conditions that are expected to be much lighter than today, but that should still grant some racing.
