Ibiza – The most famous Mediteranean island for its night life and beautiful landscapes, is the last racing venue of the final act of the M32 Series Mediteranean that has seen Porto Venere, Montecarlo, Riva del Garda, Genova as previous venues.
Hosted by the Club Nautico di Ibiza, the M32 “paddock” has brought a colorful atmosphere to the Marina Botafoch with its catamarans and the hospitality, main focus of the shore village.
Today’s races have seen 6 participating teams representing Sweden, England, Italy, Switzerland and Monaco.
Early day summer weather conditions have allowed the Race Committee to set the race course inside the port of Ibiza for one race just in front of the audience, unfortunately the wind decreased and the race course was moved in an area close to the beaches with weak but stable and tense wind.
First warning signal was given at 2:30 pm for a total of 4 races sailed under weak wind blowing 5 knots, despite the weak wind catamarans could fly up to over 10 knots speed.
On race 2 some lucky “Hot Seat” guests have experienced thrilling emotions aboard the M32s. Very tight races on a well known super speed format with a maximum 15 minutes time between the start and the finish line.
Catamarans left beam reach full speed, completing leeward-windward races.
GAC-Pindar with English crew is today’s leader at 7 points (2,2,1,2) followed by Swiss Section 16 at 9 points and Neverland from Monaco at 12 points.
Races are resuming tomorrow and will conclude on Sunday.
