Challenghe Julius Baer, in corso di svolgimento il Grand Prix de Romandie Act II

[singlepic id=3052 w=300 h=204 float=left]Challenge Julius Baer – Ginevra – Si sono svolte ieri pomeriggio le prime 2 prove del Grand Prix Romandie Act II, evento valido per il Challenge Julius Baer, circuito che vede impegnata una nutrita flotta di Decision 35, tra i quali i due scafi di Alinghi ( a guidare la classifica provvisoria è però Okalys-Corum di Loick Peyron). La giornata è stata segnata dalla quasi totale assenza di vento, come ha spiegato Yves Detrey, prodiere di Alinghi SUI-1: “Oggi è stata davvero dura. Ci sono stati al massimo 8 nodi e la brezza è risultata parecchio instabile”.
Proprio l’equipaggio di Alinghi SUI-1 si è aggiudicata la seconda manche, dopo essere arrivato settimo nella prima. Grazie a questi due piazzamenti, il team di Ernesto Bertarelli occupa la testa della classifica di tappa con 8 punti alla pari con Foncia di Alain Gautier ma è incalzato da una nutrita schiera di avversari.
Alinghi SUI-6, invece, continua a non brillare: Ed Baird non è andato oltre una terza e una nona piazza e, oltre ai battistrada, ha davanti a sé i vari Julius Baer e Zebra 7. Alla pari con SUI-6 c’è il leader della classifica Okalys-Corum di Loick Peyron.
Oggi, confidando nell’attendibilità del meteo che prevede un aumento dell’aria, sono in programma un massimo di 4 prove.

ALINGHI SUI-1 WINS RACE 2 OF GP ROMANDIE ACT II IN LIGHT AIRS
[Source Alinghi] “The conditions today were very light, and variable and a little bit shifty, with a maximum of eight knots, plus we had the threat of storms coming off the mountains”, says Yves Detrey, bow and mastman on board Alinghi SUI-1 after a long delay for the 11-strong fleet of Décision 35s due to a lack of wind on Lake Geneva in this first race of the Grand Prix Romandie Act II.
SUI-1, helmed by Ernesto Bertarelli, won race 2 and finished seventh in the first race: “The key to our win today was making no mistakes in the second race, whereas we made two errors in the first one which pushed us to finish at the back end of the fleet. We were fourth at the top mark and those mistakes meant that we dropped back to seventh position by the finish line.”
Alinghi SUI-6, with Ed Baird at the helm, crossed the line third in the first race and ninth in the second race.
Tomorrow the forecast is a little more optimistic as explained by Yves Detrey: “We expect the conditions to improve tomorrow: we should see similar wind to today, the thermic ‘séchard’ from the Northeast with a bit of Northern ‘bise’ possibly coming from the mountains, which should bring wind speeds of up to 12 knots.”
