Challenhe Julius Baer, solo Peyron tiene testa ad Alinghi

[singlepic=2680,300,204,,left]Challenge Julius Baer – Ginevra – Quella di ieri è stata una giornata molto positiva per Alinghi. Il team di Ernesto Bertarelli, impegnato a preparare la difesa della Coppa America dall’assalto di BMW Oracle Racing, ha infatti ottenuto un doppio podio nella Ginevra-Rolle-Ginevra, terza tappa del Challenge Julius Baer e “prova ufficiale” per l’attesissimo Bol d’Or.

La regata, durata oltre 2 ore e mezza e caratterizzata da condizioni davvero impegnative – il vento ha superato i 25 nodi – è stata vinta da Okalys-Corum di Loick Peyron e ha visto Alinghi SUI-1 di Ernesto Bertarelli e del tattico Christian Wahl finire secondo davanti a Alinghi SUI-6, timonato da Murray Jones, assistito da un certo Brad Butterworth.

Grazie a questa vittoria, Okalys-Corum ha affiancato Alinghi SUI-1 al comando della classifica del circuito. Terzo e quarto posto sono occupati rispettivamente da Foncia – oggi finito quarto – e Alinghi SUI-6.

PODIUM FOR BOTH ALINGHI DECISION 35 AT GENOVA-ROLLE SPRINT
[Source Alinghi] Alinghi SUI-1, helmed by Ernesto Bertarelli and Alinghi SUI-6, helmed by Murray Jones fought their way onto the podium today in what were survival conditions on Lake Geneva. Gusts of up to 25 knots made the Geneva-Rolle-Geneva race a two hour 23 minute sprint with Okalys-Corum, helmed by Loick Peyron, missing out on the record by just four minutes.

Pierre-Yves Jorand, mainsail trimmer on Alinghi SUI-1, gave some insight on a thrilling race: “Today there were two fights on the water: the first against the elements that were particularly crazy for a part of the race and the second between the Alinghi boats SUI1 and SUI6 and Okalys-Corum and Foncia respectively. It was an extraordinary day!”.
