Challenge Julius Baer – Ginevra – Giornata di calma piatta non solo a Capri. Anche a Nyon, infatti, il vento non si è steso e il Comitato di Regata ha dovuto annullare le prime prove della seconda tappa del Challenge Julius Baer, circuito che tra gli iscritti vede i due Decision 35 di Alinghi.
La brezza, che nel corso della mattinata ha soffiato sui 10 nodi, si è ritirata definitivamente nel corso del pomeriggio. I Giudici di Regata hanno convocato gli equipaggi per la prima mattinata di domani, quando cercheranno di disputare qualche regata sfruttando la stessa termina di oggi.

Alinghi.com chatted to SUI-1 mainsail trimmer, Pierre-Yves Jorand, who has been sailing on the Lake for 30 years. He provides some insight on what was supposed to happen with the weather today: “This was a typical day on the Lake! You can have 20-25 knots in the morning and then nothing for a few hours and then it comes back again; this is quite usual. The situation today was tricky, we had southwesterly up at 2000 metres and to get a good thermal breeze going, we need a difference of temperature between lake level and the mountains near Nyon. Unfortunately the temperature difference was not great enough to get this going today – it was 28 degrees on the lake and about 26 degrees in the mountains which is obviously not enough”.
“Tomorrow we expect hot weather again so the race committee will try to get some races off early in the morning and use the cool air drainage off the mountains. If we are lucky enough we will have two races completed by 11.30 tomorrow morning. The goal is to be on the water by 08.00 for a warm up and to have a first race at 09:00 sharp, having said that the weather outlook is not very promising at this stage!”
