Challenge Julius Baer, due vittorie per Alinghi SUI-1 sui Decision 35

[singlepic=2439,300,204,,left]Challenge Julius Baer – Ginevra – Seconda gionata di regate sul Lago di Ginevra nell’ambito del Grand Prix Corum, prova d’esordio del Challenge Julius Baer. Il favore delle condizioni meteo ha permesso lo svolgimento di tre prove che, unendosi a quella disputata ieri, danno solidità alla classifica e permettono di tirare le prime cosiderazioni.
Se da un lato Lock Peyron resta sempre al comando della classifica, dall’altro i suoi risultati rendono chiara l’idea di una situazione di grande equilibrio. Okalys-Corum, infatti, è al comando nonostante ieri a un primo abbiamo affiancato un sesto e un settimo, piazzamenti di media classifica in una flotta che conta 12 imbarcazioni.
A seguire lo skipper francese, famoso per le sue imprese da solitario, sono gli equipaggi di Julius Baer e Foncia, staccati di un solo punto, e Alinghi SUI-1 di Ernesto Bertarelli che si è cavato la soddisfazione di un doppio successo. Solo settimo Alinghi SUI-6; il Decision 35 di Ed Baird si è dovuto accontentare di un settimo, di un ottavo e di un terzo di manche.

TWO WINS FOR ERNESTO BERTARELLI ON ALINGHI SUI-1 AT DECISION 35 REGATTA
[Source Alinghi] It’s either not enough or too much wind on Lake Geneva! The second day of the GP Corum (first of the Challenge Julius Baer summer series) organised by the Société Nautique de Genève had a late start today. After a morning of postponements, and two false starts, by 16.00 the forecasted 10-12 southwesterly finally came through and the fleet got away.
It was a day of mixed results for the two Alinghi boats: Alinghi SUI-1, helmed by Ernesto Bertarelli, won the first race, while Alinghi SUI-6 with Ed Baird on the helm finished seventh, climbing back from the bottom of the fleet.
With conditions building, race two saw Alinghi SUI-1 finish seventh with Alinghi SUI-6 on its heels in eighth place. The last race of the day was sailed with reefed mains and again Alinghi SUI-1 led over the line, this time with just one boat between Ernesto and Ed Baird in third.
