Challenge Julius Baer, ad Alinghi SUI-1 il Grand Prix Corum

[singlepic=2456,204,300,,left]Challenge Julius Baer – Ginevra – Giornata davvero entusiasmante per Ernesto Bertarelli e il suo equipaggio del Decision 35 Alinghi SUI-1. Il presidente del sindacato defender della Coppa America ha infatti vinto il Grand Prix Corum, prima frazione del Challenge Julius Baer, evento riservato alla classe Decision 35, multiscafo scelto dagli svizzeri per preparare la difesa dell’America’s Cup.

Grazie a un secondo e un primo di giornata, il team di Ernesto Bertarelli ha scavalcato Okalys Corum di Loick Peyron, leader della prima ora che oggi, vinta la manche d’apertura, è scivolato al secondo posto a causa del pessimo risultato ottenuto nella regata finale.

In terza posizione, a 2 punti da Peyron, si è classificato Julius Baer di Philippe Cardis, bravo a difendersi dagli attacchi di Foncia di Alain Gautier. Quinta piazza per Zen Too di Franck Cammas, nella cui scia si è classificato Alinghi SUI-6 di Ed Baird, a metà classifica per tutto l’evento.

In regata c’era anche l’equipaggio femminile di Ladycat, scafo armato dalla sorella del padtron di Alinghi. Per il team in rosa è giunta un’ottava posizione impreziosita da qualche buon piazzamento di giornata.

ERNESTO BERTARELLI’S ALINGHI SUI-1 WINS FIRST DECISION 35 REGATTA
[Source Alinghi] Ernesto Bertarelli and the crew on Alinghi SUI-1 bounced back from fourth place on the eve of the finals performing consistently today to take a second and another first place after lengthy delays due to weather conditions on Lake Geneva. Ernesto Bertarelli and his crew won three of the six races over the weekend, facing some of the top multihull experts in the world.

Ed Baird’s Alinghi SUI-6 team, having progressed all weekend in what is their first Decision 35 regatta ever, jumped from mixed results in the first two days to two 4th places today to finish the series in sixth place, highest ranking of the ‘new boats of the championship’. Alinghi is using the Decision 35 championship series on Lake Geneva as part of the America’s Cup defender’s preparations towards the 33rd event in multihulls next year.
