[singlepic=2214,300,204,,left]Challenge Julius Baer – Ginevra – Alinghi ha varato il suo Decision 35 modificato presso il cantiere di Villeneuve. Ripetendo un rituale già messo in pratica lo scorso anno, il sindacato svizzero ha trasportato la barca sul lago di Ginevra via elicottero. Il multsicafo è stato preparato in vista del Challenge Julius Baer, che prenderà il via l’8 maggio con il Gran Prix Corum, organizzato dalla Société Nautique de Genève.
Yves Destrey, uomo all’albero e responsabile dell’unità, spiega i lavori che sono stati compiuti sulla barca nel corso dell’inverno: “Visto che sulla barca si può fare ben poco perchè la monotipia è molto stretta, abbiamo tentato di ottimizzare quanto più possibile il nostro mezzo dal punto di vista dell’elettronica e delle manovre correnti. Inoltre abbiamo dato una ritoccata alla livrea”.
Intervistato su quali sono le aspettative della stagione, Destrey ha dichiarato: “Cercheremo di vincere, come abbiamo fatto lo scorso anno, ma questa volta sarà più difficile: ci sono nuovi avversari molto forti, come Veltigroup e Banque Populaire, guidati da professionisti molto preparati con grande esperienza. Sarà dura tentare di difendere il trofeo, ma ci proveremo”.

ALINGHI DECISION 35 LAUNCHED AND LOADED FOR SWISS RACING SEASON
[Source Alinghi] Alinghi launched its recently modified Décision 35 today from the Alinghi boatyard in Villeneuve, Switzerland, by helicopter. The newly modified multihull is race-ready for the next Challenge Julius Baer which kicks off on 8 May with the Grand Prix Corum on Lake Geneva organised by the Société Nautique de Genève. Yves Detrey, mastman and D35 boat captain, explained what tweaks have been made to the boat over the winter: “While there is not much we can modify on the boat because the rule is very precise, there are small gaps in the rule here and there so we’ve tried to optimise as much as possible on the electronics and the running rigging. Also the look is different.”
What are your expectations for the upcoming season?
“We are here to try to win, just as we did last year, but this season is going to be tough: the circuit has two new boats (Veltigroup and Banque Populaire) manned by highly professional multihull sailors with lots of experience, so the starts of the races will be more challenging. We will definitely be trying to keep the trophy in our hands!”
