Sailing Series Melges 20, Section 16 to confirms itself in Porto Ercole

Porto Ercole – Big Melges 20 fleet also in Porto Ercole, after the first successful act in Porto Venere a month ago. More than 40 teams are lining up in Porto Ercole for the upcoming races of the series organised by B.Plan Sport & Events in cooperation with Melges Europe and the Circolo Nautico e della vela Argentario.
The season has just started and the Sailing Series® is showing great media results: “The Sailing Series® is a winning format, proof of that are the excellent media results registered during these first acts – says BPSE Ceo, Riccardo Simoneschi – We have recorded values 3 times higher compared to the past. Such “movida” has been well appreciated among the sailing fans, the staff and the potential partners.”
The “most watched” teams with a strong international appeal that won’t be missing this act will be Act 1 winner Section 16 (Davies-Rast), Raya (Marenghi Vaselli-Franci), the already European Champions Out of Reach (Miani-Benussi), Pinta (Illbruck-Kostecki), Melges 20 and Melges 32 World Champion Stig (Rombelli-Weller), Mascalzone Latino (Onorato-Appleton) and Fremito d’Arja (Levi-Bianchi), 2015 Sailing Series® gold medal and European Champion in Trapani
Intense fight also among the Corithian competitors with leading team Wilma Homann’s Fantastichina that might be approached by the Annichini’s family Hanneken and Florian Rixner’s Mojito.
The #Melges20Next project, promoted by Melges Europe and the Federazione Italiana vela (Italian Sailing Federation) will be active also during this second act with the aim of giving value to the best Italian sailing talents making them compete against a highly skilled fleet. Italian sailors that will take advantage of this opportunity will be 470sailor Matteo Puppo and Matteo Capurro, winners of a Juniores European Championship and an Italian Championship.
Melges 20 racing is commencing tomorrow afternoon and concluding on Sunday with a total of 8 scheduled races.
