RC44 Championship Tour, a Miami per il gran finale

[singlepic id=7556 w=320 h=213 float=left]RC44 Champioship Tour – Miami – L’RC44 Champioship Tour 2010 si prepara al gran finale in Florida dove, tra il 7 e il 12 dicembre, ben quattordici equipaggi si affronteranno per inseguire il successo nell’Oracle RC44 Miami, evento di chiusura di una stagione 2010 che ha sancito la consacrazione del monotipo nato dall’estro della coppia Justin-Coutts.
L’evento sarà speciale sotto tanti punti di vista. Per prima cosa si tratterà del’esordio dell’RC44 negli Stati Uniti, dove è da pochi mesi iniziata la consegna di alcuni scafi. Inoltre, vista anche l’equilibrata situazione di classifica, sarà davvero da record il numero di equipaggi presenti.
Il programma seguirà i canoni tradizionali: dal 7 all’8 dicembre si disputerà l’evento di match race, seguito dal 10 al 12 dalle regate di flotta. In acqua tantissimi volti noti, a partire da Terry Hutchinson per arivare a James Spithill, passando per Ray Davies e Francesco Bruni.
Il titolo di campione della classe verrà assegnato all’equipaggio con il miglior risultato nella classifica combinata tra flotta e match race. A guidare la graduatoria, al momento, è BMW Oracle Racing. Il team di Larry Ellison è incalzato da No Way Back di Pieter Hereema, da 17 di James Spithill e da Artemis di Torbjorn Tornqvist.
RC44 CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR, ONE WEEK TO THE GRAND FINALE
[RC44 Championship Tour Press Release] Miami, Florida, will host the sixth and final regatta of the RC44 Championship Tour 2010 on December 7-12. Organized by the RC 44 Class Association, the Oracle RC 44 Cup Miami will reassemble 14 strict one design RC 44’s.
The event will be special in many ways. Indeed, it will be the first ever RC44 regatta on US territory; it will reassemble a record number of entries and it will be the culmination of the season, with the overall, fleet and match race titles awarded to the best teams and sailors of the year.
The Oracle RC44 Cup Miami will start on December 7-8 with the match race contest, featuring some of the world’s best champions of the discipline such as Terry Hutchinson and Paul Cayard, or America’s Cup winners Russell Coutts and James Spithill.
The second part of the event – December 10-12 – will be dedicated to fleet racing, with the team owners at the helm.
The RC44 Championship Tour 2010 will be awarded to the best team in the combined fleet race/match race rankings. With one last event to complete, the annual ranking is currently led by Larry Ellison’s BMW Oracle Racing. Pieter Heerema’s No Way Back, James Spithill’s 17 and Torbjorn Tornqvist’s Artemis are within reach and will be fighting hard to grab the title.
The first regatta of the RC44 Championship Tour 2011 will also take place in the US, in San Diego, on March 2-6 whilst five teams will compete in Key West Race Week in January.
