Primo Cup – Principato di Monaco – S’infiamma la tenzone nel Principato di Monaco, dove vento leggero e pioggia a catinelle hanno permesso lo svolgimento di una sola manche valida ai fini della Primo Cup 2010, evento che come vuole la tradizione si articola su due week end, dedicati ognuno a classi, equipaggi e storie diverse.
La storia trainante di questo primo fine settimana è quella della classe Melges 20: dopo tre manche, infatti, l’incertezza regna sovrana. Gruppo compatto, direbbe un appasionat0 di ciclismo, con il primo, Value Team di Benedetto Giallongo, a far da traino al vicinissimo Notaro Team di Luca Domenici e all’appena staccato Out of Reach di Guido Miani, vincente nell’unica regata odierna. Tutto rimandato a domani, quindi, sperando in condizioni meteo degne di tal nome.
Nelle altre classi, invece, guidano gli svizzeri di Bel Ami (1-3-2) nell’Esse 850 e i monegaschi di Vamos Mi Amor (3-2-2) tra gli Smerlada 888.

PRIMO CUP, ONE RACE OR… NOTHING
[Source Primo Cup] One race was run today, but what a race! Tactics were a skill in the whirling wind and strong SO swells from the high seas. In very technically demanding weather conditions and without any surprise the best ones were at ease.
Windward run with strong swell assets allowed good progression towards the buoy positioned in front of the Golfe Bleu, the monotypes though suffered terribly while their spinnakers were up in the high waves. Helming and adjustments were very decisive.
Being light with a large sail surface, the Melges 20s were at ease, as Monaco born Guido Miani (Out of Reach) explained: “the game was about keeping inertia from the wave. Cohesion between the helmsman and the bowman was decisive today”. Three boats were fighting head to head in the Melges 20s. Italian Benedetto Giallongo, takes second place behind Guido Miani allowing him to maintain his leading point in overall raking, equalling his fellowman Luca Domenici (Notaro team). Nothing is decided yet for the Sports boats!
