Dusseldorf – On the very first day of the new decade’s edition of Boot Düsseldorf, the 12 members of the jury for the “European Yacht of the Year” Award announced the winners for 2020.
The most eagerly awaited awards for new production yachts were presented at the Flagship Night, last Saturday 18th January.
The judges, representing all the main European nautical magazines, evaluated the nominees through a tight program of sea trials, sailing from the beautiful Port Ginesta, Spain, last October.
The ClubSwan 36 was acclaimed with the Innovation Award, in her category, a prize that rewards the team for the hard work.
“We are very excited about this achievement. It’s been a very intense year for ClubSwan 36, with 15 units sold and the debut of the class staged at the last The Nations Trophy” says Enrico Chieffi, Vice President Nautor’s Holding. “This award, the second for ClubSwan Yachts at EYOTY, after the award won by ClubSwan 50 in 2018, confirms our Swan One Design Division is becoming stronger and stronger, thanks also to an amazing circuit of events and regattas.”
Launched last May, during the Nations Trophy Med League, in the beautiful setting of Marina di Scarlino, The foil-assisted ClubSwan 36, designed by Juan Kouyoumdjian, brings the fun and excitement of dinghy and keelboat racing while offering a direct entry into one of the most desirable clubs in the yachting world and top level racing environment.
The ClubSwan 36’s innovative character comes from a complete package including and balancing forces generated by a transverse sliding C-foil, its very low drag keel, 2 rudders for easy control and a power full rig since easy to trim for all conditions.
Nautor’s Swan has partnered with BMW and Torqeedo to deliver a new high-performance and fossil fuel-free sailing experience. Torqeedo has developed an inboard version of its proven Cruise 10.0 electric drive system as auxiliary propulsion for the new ClubSwan 36 one-design racer.
“There’s always been a good vibe around this project, from the first test trial” commented Juan Kouyoumdjian “We are very proud of this achievement, for this very sophisticated and technologically advanced boat, able to be managed also by amateurs”.
As per her debut in August 2019, the ClubSwan 36 class will be participating in the breathtaking circuit dedicated to One Design.
We will see the fleet starting the season in Palma de Mallorca at PalmaVela, from May 6th to 10th, Rolex Giraglia in June, Copa del Rey Mapfre in August, won by her sister ClubSwan 50 last year, and finally to Nautor’s Swan’s pinnacle event, the Rolex Swan Cup form September 7th to 13th in Porto Cervo.
The boat is on display at BOOT Duesseldorf, Halle 16 A57/58.
