Rolex Swan Cup, aperte le iscrizioni

[singlepic id=432 w=300 h=204 float=left]Rolex Swan Cup – Porto Cervo – Sono aperte le iscrizioni alla Rolex Swan Cup, evento in progamma a Porto Cervo tra il 13 e il 19 settembre che includerà il Campionato Mondiale Rolex Swan 45. Disputata con cadenza biennale, la Rolex Swan Cup raduna armatori provenienti da tutto il mondo. Con una storia vecchia di vent’anni la manifestazione è anche sinonimo di glamour.

Appuntamenti mondani a parte, l’evento sportivo si segnala per l’altissimo livello delle forze un campo in tutte le classi. Quest’anno si regaterà tra i Maxi, i Grand Prix, i One Design e i Classic. La definizione delle varie classi è illustrata nella Notice of Race, mentre per il Mondiale Swan 45 è disponibile documentazione a parte.

Da quest’anno, per soddisfare le aspettative di coloro che sognano un veleggiare più rilassato nelle acque della Gallura, il Comitato Organizzatore ha previsto la disputa di un Rendezvous at the Rolex Swan Cup, nel corso del quale i partecipanti avranno modo di scoprire baie, spiagge e isole della Costa Smeralda. La rotta da seguire verrà decisa di giorno in giorno, nel corso dello skipper meeting che si svolgerà nelle prime ore del mattino carte meteo alla mano.

ROLEX SWAN CUP, OPEN FOR ENTRIES
[Rolex Swan Cup Press Release] The Rolex Swan Cup 2010 is now open for entries. The 2010 edition of the Rolex Swan Cup, which includes the 2010 Rolex Swan 45 World Championship, is set to take place at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, Sardinia, from September 13th to September 19th.

A biennial event that is a classic gathering for all Swan owners around the world, the Rolex Swan Cup animates the waters of the Sardinian coastline with a challenging and fascinating regatta. With a history going back 26 years the Rolex Swan Cup is noted for not just the racing but also the glamorous evening events and parties that feature in the true Spirit of Swan.

The Rolex Swan Cup has a well deserved reputation for being a week of serious competition at a high level, closely fought between enthusiastic crews aboard Swan yachts. Racing will be in the following classes: Maxi, Grand Prix, One-design and Classic. The definitions of these Classes may be found in the Notice of Race, which is attached. The Swan 45 Class has a separate Notice of Race for the Rolex Swan 45 World Championship.

There is, of course, another side to the event. Whilst the Rolex Swan Cup is a natural magnet for Swan yachts – the 2008 edition brought more than 100 Swans together – not everyone wants to compete. This year Nautor’s Swan, in recognition of those who choose a more relaxed style of sailing, has launched the ‘Rendezvous at the Rolex Swan Cup’ to cater for cruising Swans. Porto Cervo, the historic base for the Rolex Swan Cup, is perfectly positioned to offer amazing locations within just a few hours of easy sailing. The Rendezvous will take full advantage of these islands, bays and beaches in order to offer some great days afloat.

The Rendezvous sailing programme is being developed to focus on fun, friends, family and social sailing. It will also include plenty of opportunities to cheer on the racing fleets on the starting line, before retreating to sheltered anchorages for lunch, barbecues on the beach, and more.

There will be a cruising skippers’ briefing each morning at which the details of the day will be confirmed. The prevailing weather conditions will be taken into account in deciding the destination and route for the day.
