Hublot Palmavela 2008 – Palma di Maiorca – Si è chiusa senza sorprese l’edizione 2009 dell’Hublot Palmavela 2009, se si esclude il successo di Cam su Aifos nei raggruppamenti a compenso.
Nel corso dell’ultima giornata, i Maxi e i TP52 sono stati impegnati su un percorso costiero di 22 miglia, reso difficile dalle continue escillazioni della brezza. Partiti con 10 nodi d’aria, i partecipanti hanno dovuto fare i conti con alcuni rovesci che hanno provocato salti anche notevoli. Una situazione che ha obbligato il Comitato di Regata a ridurre il percorso dei Maxi Cruiser e dei Mini Maxi Cruiser Racer, con la conseguenza che chi era al comando ieri sera, si è ritrovato senza affanni al comando anche della graduatoria generale.
Gioisce quindi l’equipaggio di Luna Rossa, cui va la soddisfazione di aver vinto all’esordio dopo aver disalberato nel corso della prima uscita di allenamento. Vittorie anche per Favonius nei Maxi Cruiser Racer, Wallyno tra i Maxi Mini C-R e Open Season tra i Wally. Scontata l’affermazione di Matador tra i TP52, dove Synergy si è dovuto accontentare di un primo di giornata.

BELLA MENTE, FAVONIUS, OPEN SEASON, AND WALLYÑO WIN THE PALMAVELA IN MAXIS, WHILE MATADOR DOES SO IN TP52
[Hublot Palmavela 2009 Press Release] The fourth and closing day of the PalmaVela had no surprises in store with the exception of Cam, who won in RI 0 after beating Aifos, thanks to a tactically better regatta and to the numbers which favor him.
The maxis and the TP52 sailed 22,1 miles of difficult coastal race due to a very shifty breeze at the racing area. The start took place with 10 knots of northeasterly, but at the initial mark it shifted to the 155º due to a scattered shower that didn’t caught them but definitely influenced the conditions. From there the fleet sailed to the small island of Sec, then back to the initial buoy and to Sec again, and from there to the buoys set up in the bay of Palma. At that point the breeze had shifted again and the first boats of the fleet crossed the finish line with few knots at the 90º.
Therefor the Committee decided to shorten the course for the Maxi Cruiser and Mini Maxi Cruiser Racers. The favorites have held on to their leadership and have won in their categories. Luna Rossa of Flavio Favini and Paolo Bassani is the Palmavela did the best performance in Mini Maxi Regatta, and will be one of the boats to take into account this season, but do to the owners rule, Bella Mente is winner and Alegre is second.
Favonius of Roel Pieper did so in Maxi Cruiser Racer, Wallyño won in Maxi Mini C-R and Open Season with Jochen Schumann takes a Crono Hublot watch home as winner of Maxi Wally. The conditions have worked for Esense who tacked right after the start and chose the right side but that didn’t help. No surprises in TP52 either, with Matador skippered Guillermo Parada in the first place in the final classification, followed by Synergy and Cristabella. Vrolijk’s new design will be a tough competitor this season.
