[singlepic id=2637 w=320 h=213 float=left]World Match Racing Tour – Kuala Terrenganu – In attesa che vada in scena l’ultimo atto del circuito 2010, la Monsoon Cup, il World Match Racing Tour ha introdotto le novità della stagione 2011.
Il cambiamento più interessante riguarderà il sistema di punteggio. Il management del circuito mondiale dell’uno contro uno ha infatti deciso di riconoscere punti iridati sino al decimo classificato di ogni singola tappa, riducendo al contempo il gap tra una piazza e l’altra. In altre parole, al primo saranno sempre riconosciuti 25 punti, mentre al secondo e al terzo ne andranno 22 e 19 contro i 20 e i 15 assegnati con il regolamento attuale.
Al pari di questa stagione, ai possessori delle card che garantiscono l’accesso alle singole frazioni sarà assicurato l’invito ad almeno sei appuntamenti. I migliori cinque risultati assoluti verranno conteggiati ai fini della graduatoria finale che verrà stilata sommando il risultato della Monsoon Cup il cui coefficiente sarà di 1.5.
Riguardo le card, saranno nove i posti disponibili per il 2011: privilegio particolarmente ambito, visto che il montepremi finale sarà di 500.000 Dollari. I primi tre classificati di quest’anno si vedranno assegnata immediatamente una card. Il vincitore la riceverà in omaggio, mentre il secondo e il terzo dovranno versare una quota pari a 10.000 e 20.000 Dollari.
Qualora gli assegnatari non vogliano prendere parte al circuito 2011, questi potranno cedere la card a un altro skipper, a patto che quest’ultimo prenda parte ai vari appuntamenti con un equipaggio composto per almeno il sessanta per cento da velisti che hanno conquistato la card sul campo.
Le ultime novità riguardano il calendario. Nove saranno gli eventi: l’apertura sarà ancora una volta in Francia, tra il 10 e il 15 maggio, mentre la conclusione coinciderà con la Monsoon Cup, prevista tra il 22 e il 27 novembre.

WORLD MATCH RACING TOUR, A NEW SCORING SYSTEM FOR 2011 SEASON
[World Match Racing Tour Press Release] The World Match Racing Tour has unveiled a new scoring system for the 2011 season to give a more even spread for teams in the top ten. The plans will see points awarded down to 10th place rather than 8th at each stage, while the spread in points between each position will be reduced.
With Tour Card Holders being guaranteed invites to six stages, the new scoring system will still see the team’s best five events count towards their overall position plus the points from the season finale, the Monsoon Cup which carries points worth 1.5 times more.
Under the new scheme the winner of each stage will still win 25 points but the runner up and third place will now receive 22 and 19 respectively compared to the existing model of 20 and 15. The table below shows the proposed breakdown, which will reward teams that perform consistently throughout the season.
World Match Racing Tour will have nine places available for Tour Card holders in 2011, who will be competing for a bonus prize fund which has been doubled to USD 500.000. The top three teams in this year’s World Match Racing Tour will be guaranteed access to a card – the winner will receive their card for free while the second and third place will be able to secure their cards for USD 10.000 and USD 20.000 respectively.
Should any of the top three choose not to take up their card next year they will be able to transfer it to another top flight skipper, under the condition that the team taking it up consists of at least 60% of the same crew that won the Tour Card. Invitations for applications for Tour Cards are being distributed this week and must be returned by 17 January. The 2011 Tour will consist of a minimum of nine stages kicking off at Match Race France from 10-15 May and once again finishing with the Monsoon Cup from 22-27 November – a full schedule of events is also listed below.
