Scarlino – Before some heavy rain, then the wind that blew from south, first around 17 knots, then decreasing quickly to 7 knots. Scarlino Cup, first event of 52 Super Series 2016, went into the sailing archive with a clear winner, Quantum Racing (Baird-Hutchinson, 2-2), that, thanks to two seconds, has managed brilliantly its leadership from the attacks of Alegre (Soriano-Harrapp, 1-3) and Platoon (Muller Spreer-Wieser, 8-4), finished second and third.

Despite a good first race, Bronenosec Gazprom (Liubomirov-Ivaldi, 4-8) finished sixth, just one point behind the reigning TP52 World Champion and 2015 52 Super Series winner, Azzurra (Parada-Vascotto, 9-5).

“It was another tough day here in Scarlino. The class is very competitive and it’s great to compete at such high level. The good news is that, after the first race, we were in fourth position overall, with six boats in two points – Michele Ivaldi, skipper of the bearer hull of the Saint Petersburg Yacht Club said just after the end of the final race – Overall, as a team, we are not happy because we made a lot of mistakes. Despite all this mistakes we are still in play for the season because the fight is super long and we are just at the beginning of a season that will count on fifty races“.

In Scarlino, Bronenosec Gazprom was raced by Vladimir Liubomirov (owner-driver), Michele Ivaldi (tactician-skipper), Adrian Stead (strategist), Francesco Mongelli (navigator), Victor Serezhkin (backstay), Paul Westlake (mainsail trimmer), Claudio Celon (trimmer), Zack Hurst (trimmer), Emanuele Marino (grinder), Pietro Mantovani (grinder), Andy Fethers (pit), Alex Kulakov (floater), Michael Cannoni (mid-bow), Alberto Barovier (bowman-team manager). The team’s activities is coordinated by the coaches Francesco de Angelis and Flavio Favini.

Bronenosec Sailing Team will be again onboard the TP52 Bronenosec Gazprom in one month time, when the sailing team will meet in Porto Cervo to be among the protagonist of Audi Settimana delle Bocche (June 28th – July 2nd), second event of the 52 Super Series. The circuit will continue with the events planned in Puerto Portals, Menorca and Cascais.
