Porto Cervo – On the penultimate day of the Audi Settimana delle Bocche, second event of the 52 Super Series, the southeasterly breeze was light and shifty as announced by the weather forecasts. After a log delay, Race Committee was able to held two races, won by Quantum Racing (DeVos-Hutchinso, 1-4), still at the top the ranking with two point margin on Ran Racing (Zennstrom-Larson, 4-1), winner of the second race of the day, the seventh of the event organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.
The provisional podium is completed by Azzurra (Parada-Vascotto, 7-5), the reigning TP52 World Champion. Fourth is Platoon, placed just five points far by the team representing the organizing yacht club.
Bronenosec Gazprom (Liubomirov-Ivaldi, 10-12) had a not easy day, as explained by Francesco Mongelli, navigator of the hull bearer of the Saint Petersburg Yacht Club: “If I remember well it was the worst day we had since we start to sail together as a team. Obviously, conditions were quite complicated on the water: the wind was very shifty and we didn’t play well the game. So, is all on us: basically we didn’t understand the rithm of the shifts. It can happen, unfortunately it happened twice today. There is nothing else to do: we win together, we lose together. It’s just one bad day: we have to forget it and move forward, toward the last day sailing, ready to be again in the middle of the fleet“.
After today results, Bronenosec Gazprom slipped from fifth to sixth position, and is now six points behind Provezza (Imre-Beadsworth, 6-11) and one point in front of Alegre (Soriano-Harrapp, 2-6).
The Audi Settimana delle Bocche will end tomorrow after the holding of the final races.
