Scarlino – The wind blows from south on the second day of the Scarlino Cup, first event of the 52 Super Series 2016. A welcome situation for Provezza (Beadsworth-Ray, 1-1), that with two bullets moved strides bringing itself in the second place of the provisional ranking, not so far from Quantum Racing (Baird-Hutchinson, 4-3), adept at keeping the situation under control. Third place is occupied by German entry Platoon (Mueller Spreer-Wieser, 3-6), that yesterday it was reported in the top group.
Brenonosec Sailing Team had mixed results, but was stronger than yesterday. After the second grabbed in the first race, held with the breeze blowing around 12-13 knots, Vladimir Liubomirov’s TP52 has finished the next one seventh: results that have slipped the bearer hull of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club to the eighth place of the rankings, but still in the fight for a place in the top five.
“It was another day of very close racing in the TP52 Super Series. On the first race we had a good start and a very good speed, reaching the top mark second: pushing for the first we consolidate our position. In the second race we were in the middle of the fleet but we had an uncharacteristic and poor spinnaker drop and we felt back a little bit. Two and seven is not bad, it could be two and five or better but it is still an improvement on yesterday and we had a lot of good thing out today” Bronenosec Sailing Team‘s strategist Adrian Stead explained just back at the dock.
Tomorrow the fleet will be engaged in the coastal race. Start is set for 1PM and the race course will be determined by the Race Committee on the basis of the weather conditions, that are announced light. The Scarlno Cup will end on Sunday.
In Scarlino, Bronenosec Gazprom is raced by Vladimir Liubomirov (owner-driver), Michele Ivaldi (tactician-skipper), Adrian Stead (strategist), Francesco Mongelli (navigator), Victor Serezhkin (backstay), Paul Westlake (mainsail trimmer), Claudio Celon (trimmer), Zack Hurst (trimmer), Emanuele Marino (grinder), Pietro Mantovani (grinder), Andy Fethers (pit), Alex Kulakov (floater), Michael Cannoni (mid-bow), Alberto Barovier (bowman-team manager). The team’s activities is coordinated by the coaches Francesco de Angelis and Flavio Favini.
