ESP-97 pronta per il Trofeo Desafio Espanol

[singlepic=682,250,170,,left]Trofeo Desafio Espanol – Valencia – Dopo un anno passato sull’invaso, ESP-97, l’ACC con cui Desafio Espanol ha conquistato il diritto di disputare le semifinali dell’ultima Louis Vuitton Cup, ha tirato oggi pomeriggio i primi bordi del 2008, in preparazione del Trofeo Desafio Espanol che sarà disputato nel corso del prossimo week end e al quale parteciparenno anche Team Origin, Alinghi e Luna Rossa.
Sfruttando una termica sugli otto nodi, l’equipaggio di Laureano Wizner – Paul Cayard non era a bordo – si è allenato per oltre cinque ore, testando ogni genere di impianto di bordo per verificarne il corretto funzionamento.
John Cutler, tornato a ricoprire il ruolo di tattico, ha detto: “Abbiamo provato le manovre standard per tornare a prendere confidenza con la barca. E’ passato un anno dall’ultima volt che abbiamo usato ESP-97 ed era d’obbligo sottoporla ad un accurato test. Tutto sembra funzionare al meglio: merito senza dubbio dello shore team, che ha lavorato alacremente per permetterci di essere in acqua oggi”.
Laureano Wizner, fresco vincitore del Trofeo Quebramar GP42, ha invece commentato: “Un giorno speciale. Ci siamo dovuti ricordare come approcciare la boa, come comunicare a bordo, le reazione della barca e come organizzare ogni manovra”.

ESP-97 IS BACK ON THE WATER
[singlepic=681,250,170,,left][Desafio Espanol Press Release] After a year sitting on her cradle, Desafío Español has sailed today on board ESP-97, the ACC yacht that achieved the Semi-Finals of the 32nd America’s Cup, the best result ever for a Spanish team in the history of the Cup.
In a sunny day in Valencia and with 8 knots of wind, the team has sailed in perfect conditions to do the first test. For over five hours, the 17 crew members have tested all the mechanical systems, hydraulics and electronics, and has practiced basic manouvers.
John Cutler, tactician on board Desafío Español, said: “We went out there an practiced basic manouvers to remind us all how to sail this boat. It has been a year since ESP-97 sailed for the last time and we had to check her. Everything worked well. The shore team and the crew did a good job putting the boat together. Is really good to be back sailing on an ACC yacht!”.
Laureano Wizner, traveller of Desafío Español, added: “It has been a very special day. We had to remember how to approach the mark, the communications on board, the reactions of the boat, and how to anticipate every manouver”.
Desafío Español will race again on ESP-97 during the 2nd Trofeo Desafío Español in Valencia on November 7th, 8th and 9th.
