LINQ BOATS PRESENTS SPECTACULAR OPEN CANTING KEEL BOAT
[LinQ Press Release] At Boat Düsseldorf 2009, LinQ boats presents the first 6-meter series-built open canting keel boat, the CQ-6. With this boat, the new and ambitious shipyard aims to bring the spectacular high-tech sailing from the Volvo Ocean Race to all sailing enthusiasts.
Canting keels have become increasingly popular, but a series-built canting keel boat no longer than nine meters hadn’t been built yet. Therefore the Dutch company LinQ boats took the initiative to design such a boat with a specialist team. After a year of developing and building, LinQ boats presents a boat that can carry a huge amount of sail for its length and weight. This makes the CQ-6 extremely fast and spectacular, but at the same time very reliable.
Speed, that’s what this boat is all about. With a light breeze of eight knots, this racing machine easily starts to plane. For sailors on this boat, speeds well above 15 knots will become normal. Hence the slogan: “the stunning sailing experience”. In spite of this, the CQ-6 isn’t restless. Thanks to the modern hull shape and the canting keel, which is easy to operate, this boat is very stable. The canting keel and rotating mast make the concept of this boat revolutionary, and display some of the newest sailing techniques.
LinQ boats designed this boat with regatta sailors and enthusiastic sailors in mind, or people who simply want to do some blistering fast sailing. The boat’s manageability makes it very suitable for sailing schools or event organisers that want to give their relations the opportunity to experience the spectacular kind of sailing a canting keel boat can offer. The keel can be pulled up, which makes the boat easy to transport.
Although this high-tech boat is made out of the best materials, it is very affordable thanks to the efficient building method. Apart from that, the class is bound to strict rules, so that no extra development costs will occur.
About LinQ Boats
LinQ boats is an initiative from Dutchman Jurian Rademaker. Rademaker was involved in the ABN AMRO Volvo Ocean Race teams as a technician, and he was the project leader of the build of a custom-built canting keel yacht. LinQ boats will continuously be working on the development of its boats with a team of experts and plans to market a variety of models. To stimulate the growth of the CQ-6 class, promotion boats will attend some of the bigger sailing events this season. Apart from that, Linq boats will organise a tour and an event around the CQ-6 in 2009. From Boot Düsseldorf onwards, the activities of LinQ boats can be found at www.linqboats.com.
