THE COMMENT OF FRANCESCO ETTORRE, PRESIDENT OF FIV
“Today we are happy, Italy and Garda have provided the world of sailing with an event that will remain in the memories of those who participated. We wanted to leave our mark, give prestige to one of the most important events in our sport. I share this organizational and sporting success with the entire national sailing movement, it is the sign of common growth.

“From the beginning we thought about showing the event to the world, setting up a broadcast video production of the highest quality, with an international team for the coordination of which I want to give credit to Mirco Babini, we wanted to promote sailing in one year very rich which includes the Olympics and America’s Cup, and give a boost to our clubs throughout the peninsula during the sailing school period. The broadcasts of Rai Italia, Rai Sport, Rai News confirm the level of relationships that FIV has built over the years.

“Casa Italia, for which I thank CONI, has always been at the center of the world championship, another result we are happy about. I also want to underline that we wanted to complete the event by hosting and giving visibility to the FIV formats: Para Sailing, in collaboration with IBSA and the Foiling Academy. They are ideas that the world compliments and tries to follow. Sustainability, according to the World Sailing agenda and with the collaboration of One Ocean Foundation, has guided every single action in these days.

“I can say that the results, even in sports, have proved us right: many medals in different disciplines, the quality of the youth world rewards the work done in these eight years, with the technical direction of Alessandra Sensini and the connection with the Olympic team: it is no coincidence that in Marseille there will be many young people who left here.

“Thanks to Walter Cavallucci and the Clubs, the entire organization ran perfectly and with a great sense of team. Thanks to the federal staff present, from the team technicians to those who collaborated on land and in the water, the secretariat, communication and marketing. My personal pride and as a federation is to have managed to bring such a challenging event to a conclusion and above all with the recognition from all the participants and from the World Sailing board, a hug for everyone to president Quanhai Li.”

THE COMMENT OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE WALTER CAVALLUCCI
“Today we are at the conclusion of an event that lived up to expectations and was a great success. It is thanks to the organization of these events that the role and weight of the Italian Federation can increase on an international level.

“The things we are proud of, which made this event unique: the letter of greeting and blessing from Pope Francis, the medal from the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, the active involvement of four Ministries, the Autonomous Province of Trento and the Region Veneto with their respective sailing clubs.

“The hospitality of the participants was widespread in the various locations involved, thanks to the role of Garda Dolomiti, the tourism promotion body of Garda Trentino, which masterfully managed the secretariat and logistics of the event. Thanks also to the six clubs who teamed up and were the sporting references for the various disciplines, putting all their experience and ability and the facilities at their disposal. And applause to the young companies from a particularly generous area, who believed in the event by providing their quality products, protagonists at Casa Italia.

“The idea of this event in Italy was born three years ago by FIV President Francesco Ettorre, with the aim of transforming a championship that was only organized on the water, into an event that would also involve participants and guests on land. Two years ago the World Sailing Assembly awarded the Youth Sailing World Championships to Italy, with the proposal of Lake Garda. From that moment Federvela started the organization, starting from the involvement of the Italian Government, obtained thanks to the constant activity of President Ettorre. An ad-hoc committee has been set up between the clubs and the APT Garda Trentino, a cohesive and very strong team, made up of professionalism and passion.”

THE COMMENT OF FIV YOUTH TEACHER ALESSANDRA SENSINI
“I am happy and proud of this incredible World Championship, winning six titles and gold medals out of a total of ten classes represented is really a lot, and if we add the confirmation of the Nations Trophy, this is a historic result for Italian sailing.

We knew we had the potential to win in different classes, with greater or lesser percentages, but winning six times and climbing the top step of the podium has something magical!

I believe that this team has given a lot to itself, experiencing this championship together, with the difficulties that always exist. We had a difficult third day, yet the boys knew how to manage it and deal with it in the right way. It is a group that has been able to work as a team, that has drawn strength and energy from within itself.

I am proud of all the FIV youth technical staff who were able to guide these kids through a preparation process and on the championship trip. I thank UDR Tito Morosetti who, as always, assisted us from home in managing the protests, and of course congratulations also to all the coaches of the children’s clubs for the work they do every day. Thanks and well done everyone: let it be the beginning of a great journey!”
