Trofeo Principessa Sofia, gli azzurri non deludono

[singlepic id=5476 w=300 h=204 float=left]Trofeo Principessa Sofia – Palma di Maiorca – Secondo giorno di regata a Palma di Maiorca, dov’è in corso di svolgimento il Trofeo Principessa Sofia, evento valido come terzo appuntamento dell’ISAF Sailing World Cup che vede impegnati oltre mille atleti presenti in rappresentanza di oltre venti nazioni. Tra le boe ha soffiato un vento da sudovest medio-leggero, che dopo aver ruotato verso ovest ha rinforzato nel corso del pomeriggio.

Dopo il buon avvio di ieri, Fabian Heidegger (6-2-1-3) si conferma tra i migliori dell’RS:X Maschile. Ad anticiparlo è solo l’israeliano Shahar Zubari, capace di far sue tre delle quattro manche disputate. Nell’RS:X Femminile, invece, balza al comando la britannica Bryony Shaw ma Laura Linares (3-1-11-4) tiene egregiamente il passo, seppur raggiunta dalla francese Charline Picon. Sempre a ridosso dei primi la campionissima Alessandra Sensini (9-4-5-5), apparsa subito competitiva.

Sorriso sulle labbra anche per Diego Negri e Ferdinando Colaninno (10-3-5-2), saliti al secondo posto nella Star, a un solo punto dai leader della prima ora, gli svizeri Marazzi-De Maria.

Nel 470 Femminile perdono terreno Giulia Conti e Giovanna Micol, che dal primo passano al terzo posto, superate dalle brasiliane Oliveira-Barbachan e dalle spagnole Gallego Duran-Roman. Nel 470 Maschile Desiderato-Fonda (15-6-6-10) sono undicesimi in attesa dello scarto; certo i greci Kambouridis-Orologas, i croati Fantela-Marenic e gli svedesi Dahlberg-Ostling paiono avere un altro passo, ma i nostri sono comunque competitivi.

Tentano di recuperare terreno i fartello Sibello (10-6-4-12-20-11) nel 49er. Per loro, al momento, c’è il tredicesimo posto, mentre a guidare la classifica sono Draper-Greenhalgh e Morrison-Rhodes.

Nel Laser, dove il migliore degli italiani, Marco Gallo, occupa il ventiduesimo posto, allunga il passo il croato Tonci Stipanovic, primo con buon margine sugli inseguitori. Poca gioia anche dal Radial, dove Francesca Clapcich è ventesima, lontanissima dalla battistrada ceca Veronika Flancova, e dal Finn, dove il leader è il talento Rafael Trujillo.

PRINCESS SOFIA TROPHY, TRUJILLO TAKES THE LEAD
[Princess Sofia Trophy Press Release] After “a difficult day” and with the help of the wind, Spanish sailor Rafa Trujillo takes the lead of the Finn class overall standings with a second and third place in the two races sailed today. “There are top level sailors with very equal level” said Trujillo after beating his rivals. The Spanish sailor was happy with his regular performance and said his goal was to finish among the top 8 competitors. Regarding the wind conditions of the regatta, Trujillo is categorical: “we have to sail”.

For Peer Moberg, who follows Trujillo closely in the overall results, it has been “a difficult day” marked by the wind shifts. In any case, the Norwegian competitor assures that winning is not important for him. “My goal is to finish among the top ten; I will be happy with that”, he said when he knew he was second overall. Moberg also agreed that “all the top Finn sailors are here” and that makes it more difficult to finish on the top of the standings.

Third place was for Croatian Ivan Kljakovic who has shown he’s in good shape after being sick. “I didn’t feel well over the past ten days and I haven’t been able to train” said Kljakovic at the same time he pointed out he was tired. Now he will take things “step by step” to regain strength and be in shape. For the moment and with modesty, Ivan says “he wants to sail and do it as best as possible”.
