Lanzarote – The 2024 iQFOiL World Championship ended in the best possible way in Lanzarote for Nicolò Renna. The Italian athlete won the gold medal.
Marta Maggetti’s adventure – also in the final – stops immediately with a BFD that cuts off her every possibility. She concludes her excellent world championship in ninth place.
Renna awaits the four-way semifinal, being second in the general classification, and dominates it by finishing first. At that point it was a sure medal in the three-way final with the Polish Tarnowski finishing in second place in the semi-final and the dominator of the week the Dutch Van Opzeeland. Last brilliant test for Renna who easily overcomes his opponents with a crystal clear victory that places him on the first step of the podium.
This is Michele Marchesini’s statement on his seventh Olympic Class World title as Technical Director: “A splendid team performance. We reached the final in both the men’s and women’s competitions. Nicolò Renna confirmed himself to be very suitable for these new Medal Series formats. Congratulations to the new world champion and to the coach Adriano Stella!”
The medal series took place in this way: from the fourth to the of medals.
The athletes participating in the World Championship are 94 women and 118 men divided into the yellow fleet and the blue fleet. The program includes opening series tests from January 29th to February 2nd with the final medal series on February 3rd reserved for the top ten.

The voice of the protagonists:
Nicolò Renna: “Undoubtedly, my main goal in this World Championship was to win a medal. I managed to get through the semi-final, and from that moment on, I would say it was a pleasure because once you pass this stage, you are guaranteed a medal and this allows you to compete with greater serenity and give your best! Of course I am extremely happy and now I have a well-deserved rest period ahead of me.”
