Audi MedCup, il vento forte annuncia grandi emozioni

Audi MedCup – Cascais – Con le previsioni che danno vento in aumento nel pomeriggio, con punte fino a 24 nodi, si attende una giornata molto interessante per il Trofeo del Portogallo-Cascais.
Dopo le belle prove di ieri, con Cristabella al momento leader della classifica del Trofeo del Portogallo-Cascais, la giornata di oggi ha tutti i requisiti per regalare grandi emozioni.
I diretti inseguitori, Quantum Racing e Matador, cercheranno di fare il possibile per terminare la giornata davanti a tutti, consapevoli che non sarà per niente facile. La classifica vede infatti ben 8 team racchiusi in soli 5 punti, lasciando aperta la classifica ad ogni possibile eventualità, con tutte le barche che potrebbero potenzialmente chiudere la giornata al comando.
In particolare, dopo le prestazioni non brillanti di ieri, ci si attende oggi la reazione di Emirates Team New Zealand, campione in carica del Circuito. Tanta attesa anche per vedere di nuovo all’opera i due esordienti del Circuito Audi MedCup, TeamOrigin e l’italiana Luna Rossa.
Se il meteo lo permetterà, il comitato di regata cercherà di dare il via a tre prove per la TP52 Series e tre per la GP42 Series, che dopo la practice race di ieri, darà vita oggi alle prime prove valide per la classifica.

AUDI MEDCUP, STRONGER WINDS EXPECTED FOR DAY 2
[Audi MedCup, Press Release] Winds are expected to top the 20 knots mark by the middle of this afternoon on the bay off Cascais where the TP52 Series enters their second day of racing. The GP42 Series starts today.
John Cook’s Cristabella go into the second day of the Audi Med Cup Circuit’s opening regatta of the season, the Portugal Trophy, Cascais, with a lead of just one point over the 2008 Audi MedCup Champions Quantum Racing.
Yesterday’s opening day for the TP52’s saw three different teams winning successive races, Quantum Racing, Synergy and current title holders Emirates Team New Zealand.
Two races are expected for the 11 strong TP52 class today, whilst the GP42 Series starts their 2010 season today. Daniel Calero and his young Canary Islands team on Puerto Calero start their title defence.
Breezes off Cascais today are forecast to build to over 20 knots by early afternoon, potentially producing some great action, and placing a premium on boat handling and crew routines.

Weather
Around start time the breeze will be between 12 and 18 knots, blowing more from the north, hence it will be from an offshore direction and therefore with more shifts in direction and gusts. Mid to late afternoon it will increase to around 22 knots moving slightly further north through the racing period.
