Audi MedCup, annunciate le date della stagione 2011

[singlepic id=7037 w=320 h=213 float=left]Audi MedCup – Madrid – È già in moto l’organizzazione del Circuito Audi MedCup 2011 che, per la prima volta, vedrà insieme la flotta dei TP52 Series – che corrono con un nuovo regolamento di stazza che li renderà ancora più spettacolari – e quella del nuovo one-design Soto 40 che, da quando è stato scelto per correre il Circuito, è sotto i riflettori di tutta la stampa di settore.
La stagione 2011 seguirà un calendario abbastanza simile a quello del 2010 con una regata in Francia, una in Italia, una in Portogallo e due in Spagna. A oggi la maggior parte delle città ospitati è stata scelta ma l’organizzazione sta ancora lavorando per gli ultimi accordi.
Il calendario 2011 è il seguente:
Trofeo 1: martedì 17 – domenica 22 Maggio
Trofeo 2: martedì 14 – domenica 19 Giugno
Trofeo 3: martedì 19 – domenica 24 Luglio
Trofeo 4: martedì 23 – domenica 28 Agosto
Trofeo 5: lunedì 12 – sabato 17 Settembre
Per quanto riguarda i TP52, la competizione avrà lo stesso formato dell’anno passato, con le regate ufficiali che inizieranno il martedì per terminare la domenica successiva e che comprenderanno una regata costiera per evento (possibilmente il venerdì). Il programma per la nuova classe Soto 40 deve ancora essere confermato ma sarà certamente studiato per sfruttare al massimo le prestazioni corsaiole delle barche e non prevede la regata costiera.
Come di consueto, l’ultimo evento dell’Audi MedCup 2011, si correrà da lunedì a sabato per avere la festa di premiazione nella giornata di sabato.
Per il 2011 i team potranno allenarsi nelle acque della città ospite solamente per due giorni prima dell’inizio dell’evento. Ogni evento del Circuito Audi MedCup inizierà il week-end precedente l’inizio della competizione con l’apertura del villaggio pubblico ricco di attività per i visitatori (inclusa la ‘giornata del pontile aperto’ il primo sabato).
Per quanto riguarda le città ospitanti, Ignacio Triay, direttore del Circuito Audi MedCup spiega: “Stiamo chiudendo le trattative. In linea di massima torneremo in quelle sedi che sono state un successo nel 2010. Noi vogliamo offrire ai nostri armatori ciò che a loro più piace e contemporaneamente, soddisfare le esigenze del nostro sponsor, Audi”.
“Da un lato, tornare là dove il circuito ha avuto successo, è logico e dà una certa continuità a tutti: alle città che sanno già come e dove organizzare l’accoglienza prevista ma anche agli organizzatori, ai team e agli ospiti che non devono ricominciare tutto daccapo. Senza contare che dal punto di vista tecnico, si hanno già dati meteo validi per le regate. Dall’altro lato, però, a tutti piace visitare nuove città, perché ogni cambiamento presuppone una sfida”.
“Stiamo lavorando su questo argomento, ma mantenere al centro l’ago della bilancia non è sempre facile. Però, posso assicurare che non scenderemo a nessun compromesso e che manterremo il livello qualitativo del 2010. Anzi, faremo di tutto per superarlo”.
AUDI MEDCUP, 2011 SEASON’S DATES PUBLISHED
[Audi MedCup Press Release] Planning is well under way for the 2011 Audi MedCup Circuit season which for the first time will feature both the TP52 Series fleet, racing under the new measurement rule which will take the Series forward from 2011, and the exciting new Soto 40 one-design class which has been attracting worldwide attention since it was announced as the Circuit’s second class from 2011 onwards.
The 2011 season is set to follow a very similar schedule of dates as 2011, with one regatta in each of France, Italy, Portugal and two regattas in Spain. As yet most of the city venues have been decided, but final negotiations are continuing.
The 2011 dates will be:
Trophy 1: Tuesday 17th – Sunday 22nd May
Trophy 2: Tuesday 14th – Sunday 19th June
Trophy 3: Tuesday 19th – Sunday 24th July
Trophy 4: Tuesday 23nd – Sunday 28th August
Trophy 5: Monday 12th – Saturday 17th September
The regatta format will be the same as previous seasons for the TP52s, racing starts officially each Tuesday and finishes Sunday with one coastal race at each regatta, usually on the Friday. The Soto 40 programme has to be confirmed but will maximise their racing time and they will not race coastal races.
As usual the season’s finale, the last Audi MedCup regatta of 2011, runs Monday to Saturday to allow for a Saturday night final prize-giving party.
In 2011 teams will be allowed two training days only at the venue immediately prior to the event.
The Audi MedCup Circuit event opens the week-end before to the competition commences with a Public Village full of activities open to visitors including an “Open Pontoon Day” the first Saturday
Announcement of the venue cities that will host the events are currently being studied as Ignacio Triay, Audi MedCup Circuit Director, explains: “We are finalising negotiations with venues at the moment. The principles remain the same and we expect to be returning to a number of the venues that proved so successful in 2010. We are very conscious of delivering what the owners like and also what the preferences are for our sponsor Audi.”
“On the one hand, returning to successful, known venues makes a lot of sense for everyone involved, it allows continuity for everyone: it allows the cities to build on their successful formula, it streamlines logistics for organisers, teams and hosts. And we have built good data on weather reliability and wind patterns for efficient race management on the water. But on the other hand, we all like to visit new cities for different reasons, not least to introduce new challenges for the competitors, which they enjoy,” continues Triay.
“At the moment we have agreements with most cities for 2011, but it is a difficult balancing act, one which we feel we have got right in the past, and we will not compromise to ensure that the next season is as good as 2010,” concludes the Audi MedCup Circuit Director.
