America’s Cup – Gargnano – Not only the Golden Gate Yacht Club, but also the Société Nautique de Geneve has written to the Circolo Vela Gargnano, thus feeding the correspondence between the yacht club dealing with the 33rd America’s Cup:
“Dear Commodore,
Thank you for your Notice of Challenge of 11 May 2009 and your interest in competing in the 33rd America’s Cup.
As you are aware the Supreme Court of the State of New York ordered on May 14, 2009 that the 33rd match will be held in February 2010 subject to Société Nautique de Genève and Golden Gate Yacht Club agreeing to extend this date to allow a challenger selection series to take place.
Société Nautique de Genève has advised Golden Gate Yacht Club that is prepared to meet the winner of a challenger selection series, and to discuss an extension of the match date so as to allow other challengers the opportunity to enter and prepare. This offer remains open, and Société Nautique de Genève is continuing to encourage Golden Gate Yacht Club to accept Société Nautique de Genève’s offer to give you and any other interested challenger, the opportunity to compete in the 33rd America’s Cup.
Any successful challenger winning the challenger selection series proceeding to the match will need to comply with the dimensions specified in Golden Gate Yacht Club’s certificate of challenge of July 11, 2007 and will be limited to competing with one vessel. A customs house certificate, or its local equivalent, will need to be delivered to Société Nautique de Genève as soon as possible as required by the Deed of Gift.
Sincerely
Fred Meyer
Vice Commodore
