America’s Cup, c’è il sesto iscritto

[singlepic id=7730 w=320 h=213 float=left]America’s Cup – San Francisco – L’America’s Cup Race Management ha reso noto nel tardo pomeiggio di ieri di aver ricevuto la sesta iscrizione all’evento in programma nel 2013 nella città di San Francisco. Come vuole “la particolare tradizione” nata con questa Coppa America, il nome di quello che sarebbe il quinto sfidante ufficiale a Oracle Racing, resterà segreto ancora per un po’. Ricordiamo che all’evento sono già iscritti il Defender Oracle Racing, il Challenger of Record, Mascalzone Latino, Artemis Racing e Aleph, che ha vincolato la sua partecipzione al reperimento di adeguate risorse economiche entro la fine di marzo, termine ultimo per la regolarizzazione delle iscrizioni. Stando a quanto dichiarato dall’America’s Cup Race Management esisterebbe un quarto sfidante, rimasto anch’esso anonimo.
Le ipotesi relative ai nomi dei due team rimasti anonimi sono le più svariate, ma gravitano sempre attorno agli stessi sindacati. I più accreditati sono quelli del consorzio australiano di Ludde Ingvall, dei russi di Synergy, da molti dati come sicuri partecipanti, di un consorzio canadese e di un secondo team francese, guidato dai fratelli Peyron. Ovviamente, tra i papabili, figura anche Emirates Team New Zealand che, dopo la scelta di San Francisco, si è subito adoperato per avviare la raccolta fondi organizzando una serie di incontri con potenziali sponsor.
“Modo migliore per iniziare l’anno proprio non si poteva trovare. Dopo l’annuncio di San Francisco come sede della manifestazione siamo contenti di chiudere il cerchio con l’annuncio del sesto sfidante – ha affermato il direttore della manifestazione, Iain Murray – E non vedo l’ora di avere altre belle notizie da comunicare, come il varo del primo AC45 previsto per la fine del mese”.
AMERICA’S CUP, SIXTH ENTRY CONFIRMED
[Source America’s Cup] America’s Cup event organizers have confirmed the sixth entry for the 34th America’s Cup in 2013. The official announcement by the team is expected soon.
“What a great way to start off the new year, with our official host city San Francisco in place and now the announcement of our sixth entry,” said Iain Murray, Regatta Director for the 34th America’s Cup and CEO of America’s Cup Race Management. “I’m looking forward to having more good news to share, with the launch of the first AC45 later this month.”
This sixth entry joins previously announced challenges from Italy (Mascalzone Latino), France (Aleph), and Sweden (Artemis Racing). A fourth challenger has been accepted but has yet to disclose any details of its entry, while Oracle Racing from the United States has been accepted as a defender candidate by the Golden Gate Yacht Club.
