America’s Cup – Valencia – Le previsioni meteo indicano ancora una giornata fredda per la regata odierna, per la quale Alinghi scende in acqua con l’intento di pareggiare i conti nella seconda regata, al meglio di tre, della 33a America’s Cup. Oggi il percorso è un triangolo equilatero di 39 miglia, come previsto dal Deed of Gift e si inizierà alle 12.06.
Dopo la prima regata di venerdì scorso, il presidente del team e il timoniere principale Ernesto Bertarelli ha riflettuto sulla storia del team negli ultimi dieci anni: “Quando sei nella mia posizione, con i 10 anni di lavoro alle spalle con un team come questo che mi affianca e con l’opportunità di regatare una o due volte ancora in America’s Cup, non si può parlare di giornate difficili nell’America’s Cup. Sono tutte buone giornate”.

Quali sono le previsioni meteo per oggi?
“La giornata odierna offre alcune possibilità di vento leggero. Fino ad oggi abbiamo sempre trovato vento medio o forte, per cui possiamo sperare di avere condizioni di aria leggera in giornata”.
Cosa è cambiato da venerdì?
“Abbiamo parlato di quello che avremmo potuto fare per migliorare la barca e abbiamo ottimizzato quello che abbiamo. In fondo si tratta semplicemente di fare le scelte giuste. Pensavamo il vento sarebbe stato leggero nel primo giorno di regata per cui eravamo in quella configurazione”.

“È quella giusta, siamo pronti a scendere in acqua. Vedremo quello che succederà soprattutto se riusciremo a fare meglio di quanto abbiamo fatto venerdì scorso”.

“Vincere la regata!”.

“Abbiamo avuto una giornata difficile, venerdì scorso, ma tutto è ancora possibile. Le previsioni indicano vento leggero, quindi sarà una regata tattica. Noi speriamo di dare il meglio e di disputare una buona prova”.

La regata contro Team New Zealand iniziò il giorno dopo e Alinghi vinse 5-0.

AMERICA’S CUP, ALINGHI MORNING LINE
[Alinghi Press Release] Another chilly day is expected on the water today when Alinghi heads to the race course looking to even the best-of-three 33rd America’s Cup Match at 1-1. Today’s course is the 39nm equilateral triangle as per the Deed of Gift and is due to start at 12:06.
After Friday’s Race 1, team president and principal helmsman Ernesto Bertarelli reflected on his team’s run over the past decade. “When you are in my position with the 10 years that have gone before and the team I have and an opportunity to race one, or maybe two more races in the America’s Cup, you can’t call any day a hard day in the America’s Cup. They are all good days.”

Alinghi has been involved in two of the four closest races in America’s Cup Match history; a 1-second win in 2007 and a 7-second win in 2003. Both came over Team New Zealand.

On this day in America’s Cup history
2003 – Ernesto Bertarelli was one of three Alinghi representatives on the days for the pre-America’s Cup Match press conference held in Auckland, New Zealand. The match against Team New Zealand started the next day, and Alinghi would go on to win 5-0.
