AMERICA’S CUP, REPRESENTATIVES NAMED BY BOTH SIDES FOR GENEVA MEETING
[Source BYM News] The representatives attending the meeting in Geneva, on Thursday April 24, to discuss the 33rd America’s, will be as follows:
For Société Nautique de Genève/Alinghi: Brad Butterworth (Alinghi skipper), Lucien Masmejan (Alinghi General Counsel) and Fred Meyer (Société Nautique de Genève Commodore)
For Golden Gate Yacht Club/BMW Oracle Racing: Melinda Erkelens (Golden Gate Yacht Club Board member & BMW Oracle Racing General Counsel), Richard Slater (BMW Oracle Racing Racing Rules Advisor) and Manolo Ruiz de Elvira (BMW Oracle Racing design team).
The absence of “decision makers”, from the BMW Oracle Racing delegation, might suggest that the American team intends to use the meeting as a platform to discuss ground rules for a Deed of Gift match, rather than as one where agreement might be reached over a protocol for a multi-challenger event.
