Alinghi: una difesa lunga 115 piedi?

America’s Cup – Ginevra – E se l’accordo dovesse sfumare e la Corte dovesse dare ragione a BMW Oracle Racing? L’unica soluzione, a quel punto, sarebbe una sfida a due, da disputare in una località scelta da Alinghi, sulle basi di quanto stabilito dal Deed of Gift. Leggendolo con attenzione si apprende che: “The competing yachts or vessels, if of one mast, shall be not less than forty-four feet nor more than ninety feet on the load water-line; if of more than one mast they shall be not less than eighty feet nor more than one hundred and fifteen feet on the load water-line” ovvero “Gli yacht utilizzati, se dotati di un solo albero, non potranno essere più corti di quarantaquattro piedi e più lunghi di novanta; se dotati di più alberi, non potranno essere più corti di ottanta piedi e più lunghi di centoquindici”.
Al primo segmento di questa norma risponde BMW Oracle Racing 90, altrimenti noto con il nome di DOGZilla, il maxi trimarano progettato da Van Peteghem-Lauriot Prevost, fatto costruire dal sindacato di Larry Ellison. Al secondo, invece, potrebbe rispondere Alinghi. Rumors insistenti vorrebbero infatti il defender impegnato nella costruzione di un multiscafo lungo centoquindici piedi, armato a ketch, con l’albero di mezzana alto appena una decina di metri.

To the first part of this rule it is BMW Oracle Racing 90 who answers. To the second part could instead answer Alinghi. Some rumors say the defender is charged with the bulding of a multihull which is 115 feet long, equipped with ketch configuration and with the mizzen mast just ten meters high.
