[singlepic=2633,204,300,,left]Admiral’s Cup – Lymington – Davamo notizia lo scorso 3 dicembre dell’intenzione del RORC di rispolverare il fascino dell’Admiral’s Cup e proprio oggi lo stesso Royal Ocean Racing Club ha comunicato di aver incaricato Skandia per effettuare gli studi di fattibilità relativi al rilancio della manifestazione, uno degli eventi internazionali che hanno fatto la storia della vela.
“Tramite Skandia saremo in grado di capire se la nostra idea potrà trasformarsi in realtà – ha detto Eddie Warden Owen, presidente del RORC – C’è tanto interesse da ogni angolo del mondo, ma dobbiamo essere sicuri che una mossa del genere si basi su fondamente solide”.
Warden Owen ha poi confermato che il confronto con yacht club, armatori e velisti muoverebbe dal concetto di base di creare un evento per l’estate del 2011.
Andre McIrvine, Commodoro del RORC, si dice molto emozionato dall’idea di lavorare con Skandia: “Si tratta di un’azienda che da sempre si occupa disponsorizzazioni nel mondo della vela e sa come rendere un evento del genere appetibile per velisti, armatori e sponsor. Con il loro supporto avremo chiaro il polso della situazione”.
ADMIRAL’S CUP FEASIBILITY STUDY SUPPORT BY SKANDIA
[RORC Press Release] The Royal Ocean Racing Club has secured the support of Skandia to undertake a feasibility study into the revival of the Admiral’s Cup, one of the world’s great international regattas, as the premier offshore racing regatta in the world circuit.
RORC through Chief Executive Eddie Warden Owen, has been working on reviving the Admiral’s Cup for sometime. “With this commitment from Skandia we can put resources in place to carry out a thorough feasibility study leading to a plan that could enable our vision to become a reality” says Eddie. “We have considerable interest from all over the world but we want to ensure that the Admiral’s Cup meets the needs and expectations of all prospective competitors.”
RORC is consulting with yacht clubs, boat owners and sailors from all over the world with a view to holding the event in the summer of 2011.
Andrew McIrvine, the commodore of RORC is excited at the prospect of working with Skandia. “Skandia is a company with a long history of yachting sponsorship and one which understands what is required to make an event of this calibre work for the sponsors and sailors. With Skandia’s experience and support at this crucial planning stage there are real prospects of restoring the Admiral’s Cup to prominence.”
