Malcesine – Eights international team are gathered at Fraglia Vela Malcesine for the opening GP of the 69F Cup: the points will be on the table between friday and sunday but trainings are underway on the northern Garda Lake, where perfect conditions are almost guaranteed.
The entry list includes some teams with great specific experience on the 69F: it is the case of the Suisse Katana Sailing Team led by Alexander de Weck, winner of the 2023 Algebris 69F Cup Europe, of the French Group Atlantic Sailing Team led by Pier Mas, that past year finished second on the equal with Katana, and on the Finnish FIN1 Racing led by Janne Jarvinen, great protagonist of the 2022 season and winner of the 69F 2023 Europeans. The 69F experience is not lacking either to British Team Ocean Vivo skippered by Zackary Blomeley, among the protagonist of the past season, and CER-Ville de Genève with Alexander Ott as sailor and team leader. Spotlights also on Team Pirogovo, Team Hubex and Team Medusa.
“Starting the 2024 season at Fraglia Vela Malcesine, a club that we consider the home of 69F, adds something more to an already particularly engaging moment. Given the level of the entry list, and the typical Garda conditions, we expect to host a great opening event” stated Carlo Tomelleri, Operation Manager of the 69F Class.
As anticipated, races will take place between friday and sunday on different race courses chosen by PRO David Bartol and Race Director Dede De Luca based on the weather conditions at the time.
The GP 1 Malcesine will end at the clubhouse of Fraglia Vela Malcesine with the prizegiving ceremony while the ranking of the event will assign the first points valid for the 69F Cup overall ranking.
