Torbole – At the end of three days of challenging races – 16 in total – the 69F Cup Grand Prix 2 Torbole went to a conclusion with the success of Clément Cron’s Groupe Atlantic (FRA).
The French entry showed an excellent shape right from the first races, grabbing a leadership that he mantained, and eventually increased, up to the end of the event organized by Circolo Vela Torbole and the 69F Class.
“It’s not easy to indicate just one key factor that led us to success, but without a doubt staying in sync with the wind shifts, especially here in Torbole, it has been particularly important, almost like the team work, which on the 69F must be almost perfect if you want to be on the podium” stated Jessica Berthoud, crew on Groupe Atlantic.
With Groupe Atlantic setting the pace, the opponents had to fight for the remaining podium positions: Alexander de Weck’s Katana Sailing went second, just one point in front of Allan Norregaard’s FI1 Racing, winner of the opening event of the season and of the FairPlay Trophy linked to this Grand Prix.
The ranking was completed by Zachary Blomeley’s Oceana Vivo; Kirill Frolov’s Team Ubex (ESP); Team Pirogovo (UAE) with Alexander Ezhkov at the helm and CER Banque du Léman (SUI) with Alexander Ott as skipper.
With two Grand Prix in the scoreline, the overall ranking of the 69F Cup 2024 starts to talk: Groupe Atlantic is now leading the pack with some little margin on FIN1 Racing, now second, and Katana Sailing.
The 69F Class season will resume at the mid of June with the Act of the Youth Foiling Gold Cup, expected at Fraglia Vela Macesine.
